Summer Reading 2015

Summer is almost here and we, at the Cooper-Siegel Community Library, are looking for heroes. Heroes come in all forms from our past in history books to the heroes of today found in our community and even heroes based in the comic book world. We want you, the children, to be our heroes and read books, books and more books this summer. List below is what happening at the library during the first week:

Every Hero Has a Story:
Our annual Summer Reading Kick-off begins on Saturday, June 6 at 10:00 AM.                        Children can register in the library or on-line. Children ages infant through children entering  Kindergarten can sign-up for the Read to Me program. Children in this group need to listen to 20 books in order to receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of our grand prizes.
Children entering 1st - 5th can join the Independent Reader program. They are required to read 10 books to earn a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of our grand prizes. The summer reading program ends Saturday, August 8th. Children who complete their summer reading goal will receive a t-shirt starting Monday, June 22, while supplies last.
Children who register during the first week (June 6-13) will be eligible for a chance to win a gift card. The winner will be drawn on Monday, June 15.

Teddy Bear Clinic: Tuesday, June 9 at 10:30 AM
MedExpress Urgent Care's Teddy Bear Clinic, a free community outreach program, teaches children about health care treatments and healthy habits. A local  staff member will lead the children as they observe and learn about hand washing, x-rays, splinters and much more. No need for children to bring in their own stuffed friend, the MedExpress staff member will bring their own teddy helper to the clinic. This program is for children ages 3 - 6.

Super Hero Camp: Wednesday, June 10th at 1:00 PM.
It’s a bird, it’s a plane no, it’s the next superhero, you!
Train to be the next superhero by creating your own identity and make a costume using recyclable materials. Space is limited for this academy. Recruits ages 4 and up are eligible to register.

Families who are interested in these programs and more can register online at our website, http://www.coopersiegelcommunitylibrary.org. or contact the library at (412) 828-9520 x18 or 19. Summer reading flyers and calendars are available in the Children's Room.
